Big Changes to AMA Pro Hillclimb?

So it looks like on the American Hillclimb Association's Facebook page there are proposals for big changes to the AMA Pro Hillclimb series that could see drastic changes to the series as early as next season.

Re: new rules?

That is one of the big problems with dealing with the AMA. They don't know themselves what is written in their own rulebooks. I think you are incorrect that you can show up and race with a Pro license (different than Pro/Am for Expert) at an amateur Championship.

Re: new rules?

Just to add my two cents but when a "Pro" from any other discipline shows up at an amateur race (excluding hillclimb) they race in the expert classes. By possessing a pro license they have proven to be an exceptional performer on a motorcycle. In hillclimbing though, not to take away from ...

Re: Great turnout at Red Wing!

Just another unfortunate fact to point when it comes to ATV racing is that like hillclimbing itself there are diehards that love the sport but it is dyeing. Look at how big it was for MX and flat track years ago. You are hard pressed to find many people that compete in these events anymore. Another ...

Re: Great turnout at Red Wing!

When you tried setting up these new classes did you consult with promoters throughout the country? That is one of the things you need to keep in mind when try to propose changes. Part of the reason for working through District reps and Congressmen is to ensure that the promoters can offer their inpu...

Re: Great turnout at Red Wing!

I'd like to ask a couple questions about this whole fiasco. How many riders were these ATV classes getting in them? At the beginning, peak and just before being removed? As both a former racer and event organizer as well as a district rep I know that the bottom line when it comes to the events is mo...

Re: 750 triple Power numbers....??Mine is the fastest ever..

For you triple lovers I found a place here in Japan that about 40 triples sitting on their showroom floor in all sizes and colors. Gotta see about bringing one home with me when I come back to the states.

Re: 750 triple Power numbers....??Mine is the fastest ever..

When I first saw the heading for this thread I thought the world greatest Hillclimber had made it back into the site. Then I remembered hes too busy building his billet CR cases for Kevin Harvickand Tony Stewart to bother with us low life folk that hank out on here.     :lo...

Re: What happened?

Loco

You really need to try promoting an event to get an idea what it is really like to try and do it and still come close to breaking even which a lot stifle to do. You seem to have all the answers so you should be able to make millions at it.

Re: What happened?

There are so many issues with this "sport" it's not even funny.. Where should we start? Well, first and foremost I guess we should address this whole issue of National hosting clubs being able to scrap entire classes without even consulting with the people who ride in them. This year's ho...

Re: What happened?

Loco, I'm already on both and have gotten frustrated withthe punk kid that took his XR100 over the bank that posts his video that he thinks everyone wants to see. Although the Mills flame session that went on there for a few days was entertaining. Ron, I have to agree with you that the economy and p...

What happened?

It's amazing how much things have died off on here over the last 2 years or so. I remember when there used to be tons of threads active at one time on here about all sorts of hillclimb related topics but it seems like there is nothng anymore lately. Maybe we need to let Mills back in just so we can ...
