This year there will be 3 King of the Hill Championship Series - one in IL/IN, one in KS, and one in MN/WI.  The series schedules are available on the Event Schedules page.  Series standings are available here.

The rules are very simple - each KOTH event will be held at the conclusion of an AMA amateur or semi-pro hillclimb, and will be run concurrent with the King of the Hill/80-Open class if already being run at the event (no need to run the same class twice).

The ten fastest riders of the day (inclusive of the ATV classes, exclusive of mini classes) will qualify for a 1-run shootout at the end of the day.  If one rider qualifies on more than one machine, he/she must pick one for the KOTH class - you only get one shot at the award. The winner of that class will receive a VERY nice mantel-quality award. At the end of the year, there will also be one King crowned, who performed the best over the whole series (one King for each series). The series King will receive an impressive series championship award.  In addition, the individual clubs may add a cash prize to their own event - if so, their additional prize will be listed on the schedule.

The KOTH series winner will be crowned based on their performance in the KOTH class on a placement system, not a points system. Take a look at these examples:

Scenario 1: Bob wins 2 out of 6 events in the series - no one else wins more than 1 event. Bob is the King!

Scenario 2: Bob and Vince both win 2 events - no one else wins more than one, so we have a tie between Bob and Vince. Since they have the same amount of 1st place finishes, we then look to their 2nd place finishes. Each rider has 1 2nd place finish - so then we look at 3rd place finishes. Vince has 2 3rd place finishes while Bob only has 1 - therefore, Vince is the King!

The King of the Hill Championship Series is  a prestigious competition, culminating in the appointment of a new King each year - one triumphant competitor with the right to claim the title "King of the Hill" for the next year.  Come to think of it, I'd better be prepared to pronounce a Queen of the Hill - either way, there will be only one sovereign per series, and everyone else is just a pretender to the throne!  Only the best of the best will ever achieve this lofty goal...have you got what it takes?

Series standings will be posted here on the website as the season progresses.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

GOOD LUCK!
