A few days ago the hillclimb world was shocked by the untimely passing of AMA Pro hillclimber Shawn Farnsworth. Shawn had long been a dominant hillclimber in New England, and in 2009 went pro with the help of Tom Reiser. Shawn was competing at the 2011 Devil's Staircase event in Oregonia, OH when he suffered a serious crash and was airlifted to a local hospital for emergency care - where Shawn eventually succumbed to his injuries. While it is heartbreaking for Shawn's family, friends, and hillclimb fans everywhere to have lost Shawn, we can celebrate 3 lives that were helped greatly by the fact that Shawn was an organ donor, and therefore in passing has given hope to 3 other persons in great need. Shawn is survived by his parents, Henry and Carla Farnsworth, his brother Michael, his wife Yarrow and his sons Sheldon and Roman, and his in-laws Bruce and Sharon Jones (whom Shawn affectionately referred to as "Mom & Dad"). A motorcade consisting of 99 riders, including his wife and sons, escorted Shawn back home from Dayton, OH to New Hampshire on Oct. 13th. Shawn's wake is
